Tesla has quietly launched a more affordable version of the Cybertruck called the Long Range RWD, starting at $69,990. While it’s the least expensive option in the lineup, this single-motor variant actually delivers the longest range—up to 362 miles with the optional soft tonneau cover. As reported by Reuters, the truck sacrifices some performance for efficiency: 0–60 mph takes 6.2 seconds, and the towing capacity drops to 7,500 pounds compared to the AWD model’s 11,000 pounds.
Feature Trade-Offs
That lower price tag comes with some missing perks. The Long Range RWD model skips the powered tonneau cover, leatherette upholstery, and rear infotainment screen. It rides on 18-inch wheels with adaptive coil springs instead of adjustable air suspension. It also lacks onboard 120V/240V outlets. As MotorTrend notes, Tesla offers workarounds like a plug adapter and optional accessories—just don’t expect the same premium treatment found in higher trims.
How It Stacks Up
With its $69,990 sticker price, the base Cybertruck sits in the same bracket as some heavy-hitting rivals. The Ford F-150 Lightning starts at $62,995 and comes with dual motors and roughly 240 miles of range. Rivian’s R1T starts just under $72,000 but adds 270 miles and 533 horsepower. Chevy’s Silverado EV is pricier, starting at $96,495, but delivers an estimated 440-mile range. Compared to these, Tesla’s entry-level truck offers a unique blend of long range and minimalism—but faces fierce competition.
